Quality control : a legal obligation
The manufacturers in the farm-produce industry have a legal obligation to control the microbiological quality of their products.
|
|
Current standards for microbiologic analysis
According to the law, analyses
must be done following methods set out in standards.
These methods consist of incubating a sample of the
product to be analyzed in a culture medium favourable
to the development of the microorganisms present in
the product. After several days of incubation, the micro
organisms developed and become visible to the eye in
the form of colonies.

The limitations of traditional methods and flow cytometry's
Plus points Farm-produce products,
notably the fresh products, must be quickly launched
onto the market because of their short life cycle. The
delays involved in obtaining the result of microbiological
analysis using traditional methods are not compatible
with these requirements. The results of analysis are
only available after the launch onto market of products
with the attendant risks implied to public health, to
which must be added the disastrous effects of bad publicity
when products must be withdrawn from sale. Thanks to
an innovative method-flow cytometry-MêTiS Biotechnologies
is capable of supplying a precise answer on the microbiological
quality of a product within delays compatible with the
pre-launch storage period of the product. So, the customers
of MêTiS Biotechnologies launch their products onto
the market already having the assurance of their quality.
A guarantee of peace of mind for both for the producer
and the consumer.
